William J. Stogsdill Jr.

Testimonial from Rob Mondi

Before you hire an Attorney for your divorce let me tell you my story….

Almost three years ago, my now ex-wife decided she wanted a divorce. It seemed amiable, we were married for 11 years and she was always a stay at home mom for all eleven years of our marriage. I moved out of the home, trying to make the best environment for my three children and allow all of us to adjust to this life changing event. We met with an attorney and asked him to draw up the papers and help us get divorced. Like many divorces, it did not go that way. Opinions of family members, friends, co-workers and every other person who has ever been divorced or has come in contact with a divorce turned what I thought was an amiable situation into a three year legal battle over custody, money and anything else one could possible take exception to and argue about.

Initially, I tried to represent myself.  As they say only a fool represents himself (so true) so I hired a local attorney from the suburbs who supposedly knew all the judges. (My advice to anyone reading this - it is more important to hire somebody that knows the law -  not the judges.)  Finally, I hired a Chicago hot shot lawyer who was supposedly the best – all in all - I incurred a lot of legal fees, lost two and a half years of my life and had absolutely no results to show for it.

I was at my wits end and about to give up, when a friend insisted I speak with Bill Stogsdill. I will tell anyone who is reading this, I was skeptical at first, but for the sake of my children, I scheduled the meeting with Bill. He did not over promise me, he did not tout his incredible legal record or years of experience. It was not until my trial was over that I found out Bill has never lost a custody fight. What Bill did do however, was put me to work gathering facts, records and everything else needed to come to some sort of conclusion to this never ending divorce. In addition to putting me to work, he put his entire team to work, which was something I had yet to experience with the other law firms that had previously represented me. My experience had been that most firms, although they had multiple names above the door, practiced like sole practitioners creating no leverage or economies of scale that a law firm should offer a client. Bill Stogsdill and his firm is different in that they work as a team with one goal in mind – Winning. When you hire Bill’s office you not only get all of Bill’s years of family law knowledge and trial experience but you get all of the attorneys knowledge and experience because they all work together and communicate thus saving their clients on legal fees as well as creating the best environment to create and execute on the best legal strategies.

My ex-wife hired two law firms to represent her. One firm for custody and one firm for the financial matters. All of my case was handled by Bill’s team, the Lawyers at Bill’s office. I can personally attest to the professional expertise and competence of all the attorneys at the Law Office of William Stogsdill, Jr. Brian Nigohosian was instrumental in several issues that arose pertaining to protecting my visitation rights with my children, as well as, issues regarding restraining orders. Tony Sammarco’s research and writing skills for some of the trial issues and legal documents was great. Nick Galasso’s opinions and advice regarding some of trial issues and strategy was not only insightful but extremely accurate. Both Robert Boyd and Justin Smit stepped in several times during the case when Bill had other clients and or scheduling conflicts but the level of professionalism and expertise was interchangeable and everything flowed smoothly. Finally, Brett Williamson’s attention to detail and organizational skills made the entire process seamless and less painful than the two prior years with the other firms and attorneys. Bill and his firm ended in eight months what nobody could for twenty six month prior. On more than one occasion my ex-wife attorneys complained openly in court and once to the judge that it was unfair that Bill had all the resources of his office and attorneys. Personally, if I had hired two law firms and was incurring the fees they were charging and heard them complaining about Bill working with his partners as a team, I would have fired both firms, but that was not my problem for I was the one that had hired Bill.  Her attorneys put expert witnesses and testimony from lay witnesses on the stand for over a three week period.  Bill tried my entire case with my evidence and witnesses in about seven hours.  And the results….

I ended up with custody and am the residential parent for three wonderful children. We reside in our new home in Geneva, Illinois. The distraction of the divorce is behind me and I just had my best year as a financial advisor ever. Whenever my opinion is asked by any of my clients, friends or family regarding what law firm someone should use for their divorce my answer is always the same – The Law offices of William Stogsdill, Jr. The kids and I are forever indebted to Bill and his firm.
